Chibis!!!

Hey! So, I’m not dead.

I’m gonna do a better job of posting something every week on some day that is yet to be determined. With the recovery from the holidays, switching back to days, and life in general, I haven’t been able to post! I kept thinking I should just post something to say I’m still here, but then I think that’s silly because I don’t know keep if anyone is actually keeping that close of tabs… Then I think about all the things I need to post, and then I think I should just do an update, and then I don’t post anything because I over think it. So yeah.

Anyways, I got my impact chibis minis in and they are amazing! I’ve painted 3 so far, and I love them. The resin takes a little more time and effort, but I think they’re cute so,whatever. For example, you have to wear a mask to do any sanding because of the particles and the fact that I like my lungs. Then they require a special primer that is only available in spray paint form. Where I live, it’s super humid, so that’s another thing. So, I just cleaned them all up and spray primed them all in one go last weekend. I also think they’re tougher on my brushes for some reason. May be the primer, I’m not sure.

Anyways, here they are! The gargoyle and the thief were first,  then today I finished the lich.

They’re so much fun. If you’re having any difficulty with eyes, I seriously recommend them. They’re great because they’re so huge, and you can practice all kinds of fun techniques that you can then transfer to smaller eyes.

So,  that’s what I’ve been up to. Oh! And we built a trebuchet! The Midget had to make one for school, so we made a big one. Real big. And it flings tennis balls like a pro. I imagine it will be a big hit the next time we play d&d.

Let me know what you think!

  1. Fantastic work on the eyeballs. I’m pretty impressed when I managed to get a dot of colour on an eye. Seeing jagged edges and flares blows my mind.
What did you do for the cracked back of the gargoyle? Do you have an amazingly steady hand, or some sort of pen thing?

    1. I use a trick I learned from Corporea, you line the first time with a thinned down off-white. That way any mistake you make are easy to fix. Then you go over it with a darker color. You have to do the lines twice, but they look much better that way. That’s what I did for the lightning on the orb as well. I can do some WIP shots next time I do it if that would help. ☺
I know some people do use those Micro tipped sharpies though. I never have, so I don’t have an opinion on them.
